My love for the outdoors has come into being slowly over my life. I grew up in New York City and until I was about 15 and on a bus in Italy, I had never even seen a mountain before. Fast forward to camping trips in Upstate NY and then in California (where I lived for 7 years), and then to me getting more into athleticism, which took longer than developing any love for nature did, trust me. I'm finally a more active person - I bicycle to work (about 40 minutes, from Brooklyn to Manhattan) and back just about every weekday, and I recently started up running again. this is a huge difference from the me of 10 years ago, who smoked, ate lots of junk food, and drank pretty often.
I'm not a reformed devout anything, but I do take a lot better care of myself these days:
I tend to get bored easily, so I definite veer more towards the "extreme" end of things - and I mean that with as little pretension as is possible while still using the word extreme!
This summer I am going to Africa for a month. I'm going to be climbing Mt Kilimanjaro, which will be my first summit (hopefully) ever! I'm really excited about it. I'm hoping to continue with trekking, both nearer to home and further abroad.
"Thanks for this - I was wondering what the right..."
