How to make your next camping trip more comfortable.

Posted April 07, 2008 in How To | 114 views | 0 comments

Hey, let’s face it, some people weren’t made for sleeping in a tent. We, because we frequent Uncooped, probably don’t fall into that category. But what if it’s our significant other who balks at the notion of sleeping under the stars? Then what? I say bribe them, and then follow kwiltedlady’s most excellent tips for making camping trips more comfy.

1: Invest in good sleeping pads or, even better, cots or air mattresses.

2: Bring your favorite comfy pillow, or buy a similar travel pillow.

3: Find a battery-operated fan to move the air in a stuffy tent.

4: Buy a propane stove; they’re much more efficient for cooking than a campfire. Except for roasting marshmallows, of course.

5: Bring a box of baby wipes or anti-bacterial wipes for water-less clean ups. And don’t forget to dispose of the used wipes properly.

6: Bring enough clothes for dressing in layers so you can better regulate your comfort.

7: Invest in fold-able camping chairs. Make sure they’re comfortable for everyone; the chair a short person finds comfortable might be much different from the chair a tall person finds comfortable.

8: Plan your camp food with an outing to the grocery store. Find precooked or partially cooked items to cut back on the often less appetizing freeze-dried variety.
