Interesting comment, Robert ...  but I'm not sure I follow. Are you arguing that they shouldn't be rescuing those cats, or just that the mone could be better-spent?

This is remotely related.  But something I would like all uncoopers to think about.  The USA has several large cat rescue organizations.  These places house tigers, lions, pumas, and such, because the former owners are unwilling or unable to properly care from big cats.  One such organization near Boyd, Texas that has 100 cats, spends 30,000 dollars a month on food.  Some of these cats have been mistreated, could not survive in the wild, and are sterile.  They are being warehoused, so to speak, till they die.

30,000 times 12,.. times all the wildcat rescue organizations is a lot of money.  This money could be used to train, hire, and pay rangers.  In all the wildlife protection areas of Africa, and the Americas.  Just something to think about. Write me robert_vahle@yahoo.com

I can completely understand the motivation and the choices that needed to be made there, but I do wonder about the future of that coyote. Research what those animals eat. They are top-of-the-line predators. House cats are definitely on the menu for the average coyote. And, there's the issue of what will eventually be a big predator that has had its natural fear of humans removed. On the other hand, it's a canine, closely related to the domestic dog. In combination with being hand-raised in a domestic situation from a very young age that could go a long way toward overcoming a predator's instincts. It's a story that will be worth following.
Her pictures--and story--are beautiful.
