
It seems that in addition to the effects that the Glen Canyon Dam had on the Colorado River upstream, now Lake Powell, there were also results downstream that benefitied from a manmade flood of the Grand Canyon this week.
According to experts, flooding the canyon (between 2 and 15 feet in places) restores sandbars along the shores of the river that are vital to the ecosystem.
