My boyfriend gave me crabs...

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

A few weeks ago, my boyfriend and I were taking an afternoon drive up the beautiful Sonoma coast. We often take weekend day trips. One of our favorite things to do on them is to find small, mom-and-pop type cafes, delis and restaurants that serve local food. So when we were driving into the town of Dillon Beach and he said, "We should find crab somewhere - I think it's in season," I figured he meant that we would find a cute little deli and have crab cakes or something like that.

Instead, we pulled into the parking lot of a general store. He went in and came out a few minutes later with two paper sacks. When I peered inside, I saw - you guessed it. Big, blushing-red, cold cooked crabs.

"You gave me crabs!" I blurted.

We ate them at a wayside picnic stop. Delicious.

I was stationed in this area, while in the U.S. Coast Guard.  The Sonoma Coast and Marin Headlands are beautiful and interesting.

This is the place of fog, winding roads, sea birds, quaint fishing villages, great white shark sightings.  Top, north apex of the red triangle.

I'd recogmend visiting Dillion Beach and Bodega.  Take your time, and bring your camera. Robert
