Good post! I definitely feel like my love of the outdoors was inspired by spending lots of family time outside as a kid. At the same time, I think my friends (especially in high school) has just as much influence (getting me into mountain biking, camping, climbing, etc.)
I agree...families are great motivation. I am not a hunter but gained much of my love for the outdoors while hanging out with my dad during non-hunting seasons while he was fixing up his duck blinds. We canoed out into the Scioto River south of the city (Columbus, OH). My brother and I played on the islands while Dad worked on his blinds. Now that my dad is older, he still "hunts" -- but admitted to me that he really just likes to spend all the time outside, which is what I seem to have inherited from him.
