You can do that with a space blanket?

Ever since I was a kid I've carried the good old space blanket in my pack.

Never use it for anything, but I sure have carried it around with me.

I guess I figured it would provide adequate cover and reflected body heat if I ever did need to spend an emergency overnighter on the ground.

Now, Patrick McHugh tells me I could count on that space blanket for some many other survival needs.

Check it out at http://www.adventuresportsonline.com/5basic.htm.

And, believe it or not, a space blanket can still be had for just $3.99 at Campmor. That you'll find at http://www.campmor.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?memberId=12500226&productId=1051.

A number of years ago I was on an AIDSRide when the sky opened up soaked everyone out of their tents.  Electrical storm too, very scary...we crowded into a high school gymnasium and started to freeze--until the organizers came up with a huge box of space blankets!  We may have looked like 1,000 baked potatoes, but we were able to warm up enough so that we could sleep.  On a hard floor with lots of folks snoring, that's a wonder to behold.  I'm a big fan of these things.
