SIGG, a Swiss company, has been producing its aluminum water bottles for a hundred years, but a great many Americans haven’t a clue about the company or its products.
The growing desire for quality, reusable bottles combined with the relatively new worries about leachate from plastic bottles is changing that. If you haven’t yet tapped into “The Original Swiss Bottle,” here’s your introduction.
Made of aluminum, SIGG bottles are just about as light as their plastic counterparts. However, they are much more durable and long-lasting. A Backpacker magazine test of various water bottles, which involved shooting golf balls at them from a cannon, came to the conclusion that the SIGG bottle is “The World’s Toughest Water Bottle.” The testers were unable to destroy the SIGG bottle, with its seamless design that builds in no weak spots.
Inside, in addition to not being plastic, SIGG bottles have a proprietary internal coating that thwarts flavors exchange as well as bacteria build-up.
For those with style concerns, SIGG offers more than a hundred designs and adds new ones every year.
