Bats echolocate, meaning they send out their own form of radar signals and navigate off the echoes of those signals coming back to them.
That's the basics you may have already heard, particularly with all the attention being given to the white nose syndrome that's wiping out whole cavefuls of bats.
However, research has gone much deeper.
Researchers are taking a look at the brain activity of the bats in response to the sound waves they emit and retrieve, and they're seeing some amazing waves.
