A new take on sleeping bags

Picture a sleeping bag formed and molded to your body, allowing completely free movement of arms and legs, and you've visualized the revolutionary Selk'bag.

It's the answer to the prayers of those of us who have never been completely satisfied with what our sleeping bags were providing.

The temperature ratings described on their website pretty much explains why this "new take" on sleeping bag is a pretty bad idea:

Temperature Range:
comfort 8°C / 46° F
extreme 5°C / 41° F

In other words, this product is only good for rather warm conditions.

A major reason that a mummy bag can keep you warm is because your arms and legs and body are all in the same compartment, and the heat generated from your body helps warm your extremities.  It's like the difference between wearing gloves vs. mittens.  Mittens will let your hands stay warmer than gloves made of the same material, since your fingers can "share" each others' warmth.

Still, I must admit that the photos of the model standing around in this "outfit" are pretty entertaining.
