The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service just released an endangered species recovery plan for something called the Puerto Rican demon or guajon, which is a small frog that I bet, just like me, you didn't even know existed.
The guajón was listed as threatened on June 11, 1997, under the Endangered Species Act.
It's one of 16 species of frogs from the genus Eleutherodactylus, commonly known as “coquíes” that inhabit the island of Puerto Rico, and the second largest species found on the island.
The frog is named after the habitat where it was originally found. “Guajonales” are caves formed by large boulders of granite rock.
What I don't know never fails to amaze me.
