For a very long time I've carried a Mini-Maglite with me whenever I head outdoors. I must have a couple dozen of the versatile little guys squirreled away here and there.
Recently, I came across something that really bumped up the brightness of the little flashlights, by replacing the single incandescent bulb with an array of three LEDs.
The yellowish light of the incandescent is replaced with a brilliant white light of the LEDs.
