How To Bike Up Steep Trails.

The brief stint of warm weather on Sunday (40-degrees!) inspired me to grab my bike and head to the south part of my city, which contains much more hills than where I live, though its still pretty flat. My winter muscles got tired earlier than I want to admit on the third or fourth hill, and I realized I was probably doing this all wrong.

National Geographic suggests, "slide your butt forward, lower your chest, and push hard on the handlebars."

This article by Ken Kifer offers much more detail, concerning different types of hills (isolated, series, mountains) and offers specific advice on gearing and cadence for different terrains.

What are your favorite tips and gear settings for biking uphill?
