Wear pre-exposure 'armor' lotion.
Wear long sleeves and pants.
Wear socks and hiking boots.
Wash hands with soap and water immediately after contact.
Wash clothes and shoelaces while camping/hiking/backpacking if you might have come in contact.
Wash your hair and body throughly if you see poison sumac, even if you don't think you've touched it.
